Members of the SWBA will be hiking at Cherokee Marsh on the north side of Madison from 10:00 - noon this Saturday, June 25 (weather permitting). The field trip is jointly sponsored by SWBA, the Madison Audobon Society, and the Friends of Cherokee Marsh.

Directions: On the north side of Madison take Northport Drive (Highway 113) then turn north on Sherman Ave. Meet at the Cherokee Marsh parking lot at the north end of Sherman Ave.

If you get there late, this map I made using Gmaps Pedometer shows the approximate path the group will follow (NOT guaranteed).

How to use this website

If you are planning a butterfly hike and would like others to join you, simply write a "comment" on the post for the appropriate week. Indicate what day and time you will walk, and the location. If the location is obscure, it might be useful to link to a description on the web (DNR, Nature Conservancy, etc), or provide driving instructions.

If you would like to join someone's hike, simply show up at the place and time noted. Please note that butterfly hikes are notoriously dependent on weather; cold temperatures, high winds, or rain may render a walk meaningless (except for caterpillar enthusiasts).

Everyone is responsible for their own transportation, food and water, sunscreen and insect protection. This blog provides only a means of communication.
